Who is your car insurance provider?
21st Century here. I've been really happy with them. I choose them at the time namely because they don't use any aftermarket parts when your car is in an accident. Then they give you an automatic $1000 for any aftermarket equipment added to your vehicle that they don't already know about. In contrast, I got x3 tickets this year alone, really bad luck I guess as I've been diving 10 years and never had one up until now. Buy 2005 Dodge Ram 4x4 Diesel was $172 mo is now $478 mo Cheap car insurance California
My car is through farmers, her's is through Progressive, house is through state farm. After a month of shopping around for all three, farmers is by far the cheapest for us. best coverage, too. weird. my family has been with farmers forever, so maybe that's why

Thinking about getting AAA Auto Insurance? Don't!
Thinking about getting AAA Auto Insurance? Don't!
I has AAA Auto insutance for 4 years from 2002 to 2005. Usually you would think an insurance company would want a customer's business but not these guys. never was late on any payment, but they decided to silently cancel my auto insurance.
I pay by the year and normally whenever my policy comes due I get a notification by phone or a call by an agent who says, "hey Marc, you're insurance is due. Want to buy another year?" They don't call, they just canceled me leaving me without insurance for 5 months.
Luckilly I wasn't pulled over, had an accident, or had my car stolen. They put me at extreme risk without even a call. I have not points on my drivers license and never made a claim. I was a pure profit customer.
After spending over an hour on the phone getting transferred everywhere and talking to morons they said the cancelled me because my AAA membership dues weren't paid, something else I had given them a credit card for and they didn't renew. I thpught it was rather awful of them to expect that I have to get their permission as to who I might loan my car to.
So - I went online and got a Geico policy because I needed immediate coverage and I'm definitely not doing business with those nazi AAA Auto Insurance bastards again. So if you feel link I do, tell AAA to go fuck themselves. And let them know that I sent you.
You should report this to your state insurance department. If you are in California the commissioner is Garamendi and he's the bane of insurers' existence (he and Eliot Spitzer).

I drive a tow truck and you don't want AAA car insurance anyway. That's smart, you just paid 1000.00 for that 200.00 tow. Get roadside assistance on you insurance and call 911 to find a tow truck when you need one.
The people that we go pick up are always pissed at AAA. They must give IQ tests and hire from the bottom up. Their biggest concern is getting off the phone and passing the whole thing over to the towing company.
almost the exact same thing happened to me, but to take it a step further, the company that holds my loan slapped on a $1500 yearly insurance fee because AAA notified them and NOT ME that the insurance was cancelled.....>!!!!
My family has had AAA Insurancehad a rather large claim of about $4000 from lightening damage to television, computer & air conditioner. I have NEVER worked with an adjuster as nice and eager to work with as this one. I have worked in insurance for many years, and AAA's claim service is above & beyond ANY company I have worked with or for. One bad or good experience does not reflect the entire company for sure.

AIG Car Insurance also sucks.
I was going to blog about this event and then realized I had written the whole thing out pretty much the way I would have written it here:
this is so awesome...i get an email a week or so ago from AIG saying "we tried to send you a refund check but it came back, what is your new address?"
i gave it to them and asked "why are you sending me a check refund? did my rates go down at all?" and she said "i don't know, i'm just the mailing person." i get the check and it says "Aig refund a result of policy cancellation."
so i called them and they said, "oh, yeah, it says here you have an exclusion on your policy for my roommate?"
this has been an ongoing problem ever since she moved out of my place 2 years ago; they refuse to remove her as an exclusion. so basically any time i have to get my policy updated, reissued, etc, i have to fax in a form assuring them that my friend , who lives on the other side of the city and is not a licensed driver in the first place, will not drive my car. i asked, "do you make every austin resident explicitly exclude her from their policy, then?" she didn't laugh.
so i just groan and say, "for god's sake she doesn't live with me."
"well, sir, we have no way to know that."
"um, except that i moved and i am telling you she doesn't live with me???"i gave the woman my new address in october the LAST time they cancelled my policy (because they had my wrong address and USPS wasn't forwarding my mail reliably) and she didn't record the new address. but i wasn't surprised when i didn't get any mail from them because i paid for several months up front so i didn't expect a bill for a while. turns out they did mail me something--the exclusion form to sign--and they sent it to my old old address i never got it and hence never signed it so they cancelled my policy and notified me by mailing me... at that old address. they didn't call or email. the ONLY reason i found out is because of that woman in the fucking mail room who emailed me about the refund check. i asked over the phone why they didn't email me or call me when my policy was cancelled and she said, "sir, we can't call or email every person whose policy gets cancelled!" i don't really know why not.
Aig agrees to fax the exclusion form to stephanie at work since i don't have a fax machine and says, "oh, but you will need to pay SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS to get the policy reissued since it has been cancelled by Aig."
and i said, "but that was your fault."
"i'm sorry, sir, these are our rules."
in fact, during the conversation she said "i'm sorry, sir" quite a bit, maybe twenty times. ironically, i'm pretty sure she was not sorry about anything. also, her saying she was sorry did not actually help solve any of my problems in any way. "i don't need you to be sorry," i said, "i need you to help me fix this." apparently she was not sorry enough for that.
i ran some errands today and one of the places i was going to, lo and behold, a geico office right next door. so i walk in, and these two women are super-nice and make fun of the phone operators, can't understand why they won't remove her as an exclusion since she clearly doesn't live with me anymore and they reissue my policy and only make me put $200 down for the first couple months.
but the best part is, she tells me, "by the way, you said you have been uninsured for a week or two..."
"... that's not true, you have been uninsured since november 20th."

Geico damages recovery sucks
All GEICO cares about is if they are going to be out any money. They basically told me I was on my own.
So I took the other person to small claims court and AIG provided her with a high priced attorney and I the judged ruled for the defendant.
Now I get a call from GEICO saying that AIG is now trying to recover damages-all of a sudden GEICO will actually return a phone call but still only interested in their own interests.
I just switched back to USAA.
I hope a snake eats that cute little giecko!!!
THANKS FOR NOTHING GEICO AND GOOD RIDANCE!

Ask your insurance broker about car insurance discounts
- Multi-Vehicle or Multi-Driver Discount
It is a very popular discount. If you have cars insured already or you have someone who lives with you a car already insured in this very insurance company, then it’s likely that you can have a discount on insurance. It’s very common practice to have two or more drivers in the household. - Multi-Line Discount
This discount is available to you if you have bought several insurance types in one company, for example car and health insurance, or health and property insurance and so on – the rule will more formally sound like that: if you have bought or buying more than one insurance types in the same insurance company. - Safe Driver
If you drive safe and didn’t have any accidents, tickets or claims in the last 3 – 5 years then you can ask your company for this discount. - Safety Features
If your car has the usual safety features available, then you are eligible for this kind of discount. The safety features include, but are not limited to: anti-locks brakes, automatic seatbelts, and airbags. Again, as I said in my other articles – if you are buying a new car, then keep this list in mind and ask for features listed in it. - Anti-Theft Devices
Along with safety features discount there is an anti-theft devices discount. It has the same meaning and reasons that previous discount does. So I will just list the anti-theft devices that are eligible for a discount: car alarms, fuel and ignition cut-off switches, VIN windows and Lojack.
If you have read this and you do not fit in any discount available, don’t worry, I’m pretty sure that you will be able to get one of the limited available discounts.
Limited available discounts:
- Defensive Driver or Safety Course
In some states there is a course available for drives. It’s called car safety course, or more officially defensive driver course. It’s name explain pretty much what the course is for. And for us it means a way to get a discount on insurance along with new skills of safe driving. - Good Student
If you are a B-grade point average student or better, then you will probably be able to get a discount. But be sure to check this with your insurance company or state rule set, as this discount is not available in all states. But it is available in most states though. - Military discount
There are states (you will have to check witch, as I simply do not have this information), where active and retired military servants can take the advantage of an insurance discount. They may also get extra price lessening if while being active military members they went abroad. - AARP
Some insurance companies in some states now offer AARP discounts of older generation. - Profession Based
I know that companies did investigations and risk studies in the area of insurance and found that people with college degrees and people of some professions like educators, engineers and scientists, according to statistics have a lower chance of car collision to happen. This is why this discount is available. There may also be other professions that may fit for this discount, you should check this with your insurance company.
